Top 5 Oregon Coast Campgrounds

The Top Five Campgrounds Located Along the Central Oregon Coast

Fly a Kite at the Beach

5. Devil’s Lake State Park - located within the city limits of Lincoln City, campers enjoy the close proximity to the city attractions. Campers also enjoy swimming and boating on Devil’s Lake, or kayak tours in the summer.

4. Beverly Beach State Park - located just north of Newport, only a short distance from the sandy beach, Beverly Beach is a popular campground. Beverly Beach has 53 full hook-up sites, 128 tent sites and 21 yurts. Visit the Oregon State Park and Recreation website for more information or to make reservations.

3. Jesse M. Honeyman Memorial State Park - located a few miles south of Florence on Hwy 101, in the midst of sand dunes, Honeyman Park is the “second largest overnight camp in the state.” Campers enjoy swimming in the freshwater lakes or hiking up the massive sand dunes.

2. Cape Perpetua Campground - located north of Florence off of Hwy 101, the Cape Perpetua Campground is nestled at the base of Cape Perpetua. Enjoy wooded camp spots along the meandering creek. Campers enjoy hiking trails to the tidepools or to the Giant Spruce. This campground is also part of the Siuslaw National Forest area.

1. Tillicum Beach Campground - located between Waldport and Yachats, this busy campground is situated at sea level. Campers feel like they are camping right on the beach! The camp spots located adjacent to the beach are, of course, the most popular. Make sure to get there early or make a reservation. This campground is part of the Siuslaw National Forest recreation area.

Would like to find a nice camping spot for 5 people, prefer yurts but they are always full so reasonable motel or good camping would be ok too. Really want to be near an area that has good fireworks display on the fourth. I keep trying to use the coastal online reservation website but everytime I go to reserve something it says its temporarily unavailable - try back later,.,.

Cyndi,
Thank you for your comment. What area of the coast are you looking at? Newport, along the Central Oregon Coast, has excellent fireworks over the Yaquina Bay, with reasonable motels, and camping at various sites. Beverly Beach and South Beach are two great campgrounds located near Newport. However, I’m not sure if they will have openings. Have you tried calling the campgrounds? I would consider calling.
Lincoln City also has a great fireworks displays on the beach. Waldport has fireworks, usually on the 3rd over the bay too.
Let me know if you need anymore assistance. I hope the reservation line is back up soon.

Thanks for this very informative and interesting post. I have been to Oregon and visited Beverly Beach State Park. I really enjoyed my time there. Really enjoyed staying at the yurts. The yurts have complete amenities such as a heater, beds, table and a porch.
I am working on a new website at http://www.recreationparks.net and have a park page specifically about Beverly Beach State Park. You can find it here http://www.recreationparks.net/OR/lincoln/beverly-beach-state-park-newport-north. I also have pages for the other parks you mentioned in your post. I’d love to get feedback from you and your readers about the site, ideas for what regional information to add, etc. I’m hoping that many people will vote on the activities at this and nearby parks, since that information will let me setup a search to help people find activities that interest them, and lead people to discover new public parks.

Living in Oregon, we frequently take our Class “C” motorhome to the coast and stay at the State Parks. We have found the facilities, services, and reservation system some of the best in the country. I would recommend Bullard State Park near Bandon if you enjoy leisurely walks along the beach, river clamming, a lighthouse visit, and campgrounds protected from the wind by rolling sand dunes.
