The Perfect Family Holiday to Thailand

Thailand is one of the most popular destinations in South East Asia for Western tourists, and there are lots of parts of this beautiful country that are suitable for a family holiday. There are many beautiful destinations and fascinating things to see and do, meaning that it will be a family holiday that everyone remembers for a very long time!

Choosing Where To Start

Traditionally when you flew to Thailand, you would usually fly into Bangkok first, but with the tourist boom in Thailand over the last few decades many of the regional airports cater to international flights. In Chiang Mai, you can fly direct to Qatar via Qatar Airways, and Phuket and Krabi airports also have many international flights. As such, you will need to decide which parts of the country you are going to see when you visit. Bangkok is an excellent starting place, but with a family, you will not want to be there for more than a few days, and it can get extremely hot and humid. There are many attractions for children in Bangkok, a lot of them indoors and with air conditioning, and there are also plenty of places to shop where you will find the latest fashions, toys, and technology for sale to keep all the family happy.

A Trip Up North

One of the most popular destinations in the North of Thailand for families, couples, and backpackers is Chiang Mai, which is a lot more relaxed and laid back than the capital city. The city is packed full of temples, and there are many attractions to see such as Tiger Kingdom, Night Safari, and Elephant Nature Park to name but a few. You can also visit a Hill Tribe village and see the ethnic Longneck Karen villagers who wear the traditional neck rings. There are also plenty of markets to browse, and you can visit the night bazaar, and let the kids enjoy a fish massage while you shop. You can easily spend four or five days here without being bored before you head off down south to relax on a beach and soak up some of the sun’s rays.

Relaxing On A Beach

To finish off your holiday in Thailand you can spend a week or two in the south and relax on a beach while you top up your tan. There are many different beach destinations available such as;

  • Phuket
  • Krabi
  • Koh Samui
  • Hua Hin
  • Pattaya
  • Koh Lipe
  • Koh Chang

Some areas are better than others for younger children so you will need to research before you book and the Trip Advisor website is an excellent tool to do this for you. There are many international resort chains in places such as Phuket and Pattaya where they offer children’s clubs to keep the youngsters entertained while you relax on the beach or at the restaurant.

No matter where you decide to go as a family on your trip to Thailand, with a bit of planning and research you can ensure that you have the trip of a lifetime that you and the rest of your family will remember for a very long time.
